Whoever become US president, NK problem would still haunt them. While we got the newer THAAD, like Patriot batteries they are unreliable, and untested in the fields of battle. F-22 and F-35 could easily be "tested" in combat, but nobody could really test a defense system that could spell deaths on millions of people should the system fail. Whoever sits on the White House, I bet will still reluctant to immediately launch full Minuteman ICBM counter-strike in the event of NK using nuclear weapons. I bet in the event of NK nuclear strike on SK, US would still go for "limited strike" instead of "assured destruction" as it should be on nuclear umbrella doctrine. The only sure way for SK is to develop their own weapon, on the risk of escalating tension with China.
