Not a good start to the autonomous vehicle industry. These vehicles, if widely used, would need to be safe for literally millions of miles driven. But those aren't even the issues that bother me. I am totally on board with the idea. However, my concerns deal with obligations when things go wrong and how much of the car would I actually own. First, things will go wrong at some point. And when a car crashes, for whatever reason, who is at fault and who will cover damages? Second, I highly doubt that the owners of these cars will be allowed to make modifications or even simple repairs to their vehicles. You will most certainly have to take it to a specific mechanic who will have bought the computer program needed to diagnosis and repair the vehicle. So those are really my biggest concerns. Well, outside the fact, that I will have to drive around knowing that behind all those tinted windows are people jerking off.
