As I mentioned in a previous post. There is a problem with the expense of raising rhino now. Now, rhinos must be guarded by anti-poaching teams 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is something that has developed over the last few years. The cost of protecting them is becoming cost-prohibitive for the farms. If they stop raising them, then they cannot act as suppliers for places like Kruger National Park. There may be some profiteers out there, but the people I met in SA were anything but that. They are seriously worried that rhinos may become extinct in theirs or their children's lifetimes. If it becomes legal to sell rhino horn the farms will have an incentive to continue to raise rhino.
