Good points.
The problem is that the elites actually don't need to worry. They are rich enough to survive pretty much anything. You and I may freeze / fry to death while we alternate between being drowned, starved and eaten by invasive insects, but they won't.
They are not held accountable and they have no financial reason to do anything about it so why should they care?
I guarantee you there are some of them right now who are looking forward to the exciting profit opportunities that climate change, food and water scarcity and mass migration will offer.
