That's not fully correct. I'm currently a janitor for a hospital and I'm required to read e-mails about procedure changes, and do online modules for things like Fire Safety and the like. We have little time to sit on a computer (we are supposed to be cleaning) so these modules can be difficult to do when there's no down-time. Doing these tasks on-shift accounts for many, many hours of lost productivity when you count the small time investments of each employee performing these tasks on a computer across hundreds of employees. The nurses, doctors and others also have numerous obligations that are similarly menial, but important in addition to their more important communications via e-mail and such. With automated transportation, I could do those types of tasks on the way to work and then start the manual labour when I arrive rather than reducing the productivity of my team.
