I feel autonomous killer robots are unethical because humans, even soldiers, are not indiscriminate killers. They consider, they aim poorly and miss on purpose, they feel guilt and suffer PTSD and they have a very human reaction to killing other humans, which has a moderating influence on war. Add killer robots, and it will be the next step in industrialized killing, killing people like weeds and cattle. It does violate human dignity to be killed without any emotional consideration or risk to the killer. Do we really want to automate human killing, even if we are on the side of right?
