Most of the people here are miles ahead of me in their understanding and articulation of the spectacle. Your post is very interesting and while it seems debatable (according to the comments) if the spectacle was applied correctly to ferguson as a means of analysis for what is happening, I still found it interesting. My only critique is that I'm not sure using the spectacle is the best way to analyze what is happening because it's scope is so narrow in only looking at images and peoples relation to them.
I found it really interesting when you started referring to "the master's tools" and that to use the master's tools will lead to defeat because his own tools won't be permitted to be used to undue him. It was interesting to me because it immediately reminded me of Leninism and that the only hope for the proletariate to free themselves from an exploitive system is not to reform the current system but have a revolution and completely change the system.
So, when analyzing ferguson I find that the spectacle leaves a lot to be desired, are images and the media involved, yes so it may fall into the realm if the spectacle however if you want to understand why the media has 1 message, while the protesters have a different, and what will happen next and so on, at the very least I would recommend Chomsky's idea of manufacturing consent, and from there understanding Marx's analysis of class does a better job of explaining the "why's" of this conflict and a better job of predicting what will come next, and more specific to your argument why the protesters will fail even if they commanded "the spectacle" more successfully.
I still think you had an interesting write up though and if we were to use the spectacle to analyze ferguson you make some great points, but I can't help but notice the parroting of other philosophy that explains the situation better but using a different vocabulary.
