Sure, and in principle it is fine to think they made a "wrong" choice. The danger comes from calling them 'retards' or 'backwards' which implies superiority of your particular moral code.
It is the modern manifestation of 'white man's burden'. We must 'educate' these Nigerians so they recognize that certain values are 'wrong' and instead adopt our own.
