The shared common knowledge of all mankind has the downside of allowing anyone to be educated and informed. Adding a managed layer between the user and the database is an important step in returning to the dark ages. Mixing the real with the AI hallucinations will eventually replace everything on the internet, the new way to burn the library.  They are taking away knowledge.

The worst part of posts like this is that they start off with a relatable situation and immediate devolves into 'I used AI because somehow I think a data scraper is safer than Google' and then the whole post is useless. Don't use AI. DeGoogling is *pointless* if you are using AI.

you might be able to refute it at a forensics level... but the court of public opinion will crucify most before this can be determined. An AI video comes out, XY popstar diddling kids or whatever. Video hits the internet. Even if it's determined to be AI within 2-3 days, their name and trust will still be pretty much tarnished forever

In all seriousness, this is what happens when you train AI on the internet. Almost every time war is even hinted at there are users on sites screeching that we should "glass 'em".

Yes, all of CS/tech/AI facing subreddit is full of bots and astroturfing. It’s just a blatant attempt for companies to invade Reddit in hopes of advertising their product subtly as “community wisdom”

The point is to make it not happen and you can do that by fucking firing people who use ChatGPT or Claude for this.

This is what I've noticed a lot of my single peers have begun doing. The US had most innovative tech sector in the world AND the international goodwill and trust to leverage it.
