Lavendertowne you forgot to bring up the sheer amount of Corn made in AI, AI bros are pathetic gooners.
My grandma had Inside Edition on the TV and they were interviewing the guy who """"made"""" the pope puffer jacket image and they kept calling him a "digital artist" and I was so upset like nooo don't equate my work with AI usage 😭😭
Netradyne??? Oh… that doesn’t sound Terminator-esque at all. Nope. Let’s just play around with AI and name it something eerily close to Cyberdyne and act shocked when the shit doesn’t work out as planned. Yeah… we deserve to have the end of the world. Bring on the T-800’s.
I remember watching something in BBC where they made an AI baby by making a digital baby brain by mapping real human baby brains and recreating it digitally.. It's pretty scary because the AI works the same way as a real human brain so if human brain produces consciousness that way, then the AI should be conscious too.. It's pretty crazy to think about.
So what I would recommend is actually rerunning this test but don't use a Greenfield project. Rerun it with something that is well established. Maybe you have some hobby project that you gave up on because you never implemented feature XYZ. Try and get the llm to implement that feature.
Personally what I have found is that the agents are okay to good for Greenfield project and getting the basic s…
Honestly wouldn't mind if ai art was just banned, whenever i notice it i get really grossed out... and sometimes slightly nauseous? I'm not even an artist, I'm a maths nerd who hasn't drawn since i was 12. I know the technology has value but i don't want art of all things to become so soulless, ai is just not the same as real art. When I'm amazed at my creative friends for making really cool draw…
Josh is one of the tech hype guys. He doesn't actually know what is going on and isn't interested in getting to the truth. He would lose his precious access if he actually did some hard hitting journalism. No better than Kara Swisher was for decades propping up tech bros as "geniuses". If you want someone who doesn't care what tech bros think then check out Ed Zitron. These hype guys are pathetic…
The AI that misclassified the couple as gorillas was 100% not fed with black people but instead with real gorillas wich means it was misprogrammed due to human error. If it was fed with actual black people the couple just seems to look more like gorillas than black people.
No case of racism to see because computers (Spoiler) are indeed completly RATIONAL and do not have a bias at all!
Companies:
Fix the actual problems that customers are calling about? No
Use ai to make your employees work more so you have to hire less people? Yes
The issue I have had when AI has accelerated my work is that if I am 3x more productive, my mind is toast at the end of the day. He gave example of a family member replying to letters and doing 5x more letters than before. How does she feel at the end of the day? It burns you out big time. What winds up happening is you can’t keep up with that acceleration over weeks and you need more downtime to…
It seems highly bizarre to me to describe the Claude test regarding the extramarital affair as acting on “an instinct for self-preservation.” This seems like both begging the question, and projecting or anthropomorphizing…if all of these emails are fictional content for a non-existent company written specifically for the purpose of this test…then the researchers aren’t so much testing if an agent…
Copyright is always provided to art and generally protects you from anyone else using your work aside from fair use.
However, in the case of fair use, it has a legal requirement that the resulting image does NOT have any affect on the potential value or market of the original copyrighted work.
(Got this first part from Sinix)
Greg Rutkowski's work for example, has been put into these hundreds o…
I've been worried about this for a long time. Human greed could potentially destroy humanity. I wish more people and governments would take notice and do something about it. There needs to be serious regulations that control AI development and evolution. Otherwise, the human species and potentially Earth are doomed in some apocalyptic scenario.
I think AI can help make a personalized learning path for students. It’s hard as a teacher to make 30-120 personalized learning path materials for students.
Teachers or guides are still needed in order to monitor students, give them the emotional tools needed to be respectful of others, and to help students resolve peer conflicts.
12:19 - it’s scary space. think about Flint. The auto plants diverted fresh drinking water because the other water supply was too corrosive to the car paint. So a city of 100k at the time suffered even until this day. I couldn’t imagine what that would look like on a larger scale to cool machines. 😢
Great episode but one thing needs correcting.
The "80% of Silicon Valley startups prefer Chinese models" framing is misleading. Martin Casado from a16z - the original source - corrected this himself on X.
The actual number: 20-30% of startups pitching a16z use open-source models. Of those, ~80% use Chinese ones. That's 16-24% of all startups. Not 80%.
Big difference.
And even within that slice…
As a creative professional, his response to people worried about losing their jobs to the greedy decisions of their employers who have worked diligently to remove ANY sort of guardrails for it’s development & implementation seriously lacks compassion & is out of touch w/regular people. His answer of “get off your ass & reinvent yourself, ideally as someone who can do something never done before” …
What's crazy to me about the whole "Why spend time practicing when you can be instantly good with AI?" is I've always found an incredible amount of joy in the act of practicing and improving myself. Yes it can be frustrating at times if the time x skill graph flattens out, but then I look back at the entire graph and it releases a huge supply of serotonin. Why would I take that away from myself b…
Never heard of this but it seems to me the self driving car should of stopped anyway
Honestly if ai "artists" are mad at you I think you're doing exactly the right thing
