Before the debate i was worried about AI. Now, after listening the clownish arguments in favor that AI is safe, I think we are clearly fucked.
Texas is one thing . . . I would like to see a video for a driverless truck in an area where we have snow / ice . . .
A man in South Korea was crushed to death by a robot that may have mistaken him for a box, according to reports.
The victim, a worker in his 40s, was inspecting the robot's sensor at a vegetable-packaging plant on Tuesday when the incident took place. The warehouse is located in South Gyeongsand province, a region in the south of the country.
The robotic arm is understood to have confused the…
When normal software doesnt work, it's called a bug, when AI doesn't work, it's called a revolt
This guy is very smart, but his ability to articulate the alarm around AI leaves a bit to be desired. I strongly suspect that Ezra could articulate the threat better than the expert. Of course, his training is computer science, not persuasive rhetoric.
As a paralegal major, I knew this was gonna be bad before I watched the video, but the attorneys incompetence is honestly even worse in its own right
I tried using ChatGPT once for an essay in my legal research class, and it just spewed gibberish that had nothing to do with the cases I found in Westlaw. Totally unreliable, don’t recommend!!
How TF do licensed attorneys make this mistake and NOT…
It is fascinating how people who say that AI replaces the tech jobs either are selling AI solutions (their opinion is irrelevant), have not been coding for more than 2 decades, or have no idea how tech works (Mark Cuban). It is math with limitations, the laws of physics, and our understanding of math. As a man of science and both a mathematician and computer scientist, it pains me to see how peop…

All artists genuinely have good intention when they redraw AI stuff. But by doing stuff like quote tweeting, it’s interacting with the AI stuff, leading to more engagement and legitimizing the usage of AI. The only way to kill AI is to prove that it’s NOT profitable, so that people would drop it.
Yeah exactly lmaooo. Idk why people are even impressed with this. Tell AI to code something completely new and it will just hallucinate.
Autonomous trains are still hard to do because it requires the signalling to do it. Hence why traditional rail is usually not autonomous especially if it shares track with other types of trains.
MOST of them did. They provided pictures of their OWN female family members as blackmail for if THEY ever ratted anything out. Like, if a guy decides he wants to quit and tell the police, then he already submitted photos of his sister or daughter and they have been deepfaked, and they will out him as having sent in the photos.
Seems like an oversimplification, no? Do we not already have enough weapons of mass destruction to deal with actual threats as opposed to hypothesised ones?
The smart move is to stop allowing our fears and insecurities to drive our technological innovations as they only enhance the divide between us and delay the development of what we really need; sustainable technologies which enhance the abi…
No don'tgo to r/awww , you're so close! Go to r/earthstrike or r/ExtinctionRebellion or any other activism resource ([www.rebellion.earth](https://www.rebellion.earth) and [sunrisemovement.org](https://sunrisemovement.org) are good too) and start getting connected to other people who are frustrated like you. The way we use our resources is dictated and controlled by a system that values profit an…
What's sad is that people want to ignore this piece of news and concentrate on the birth of a stranger's child.
Yep. I have a lot of friends who are artists in the games industry, and even they're concerned. AI generated imagery will drive down the value of art, and impact artists massively to the point folks I know are concerned if they'll be able to make rent.
The AI tech bros are rubbing it in their faces that "artists are over" and the sites artists rely on, like DeviantArt and ArtStation, are embrac…
I just think we should be extremely careful not to anthropomorphise LLMs. Remember you are not talking to Bing or Sydney, that’s the role it’s been instructed to play. The actual intelligence behind the persona it plays do not think in the way we do. Defer to the experts on this.
None of these players are researching "AI" in the traditional sense. They are all producing highly sophisticated "guess the next word" generators. GPT is essentially your phone's auto-complete sentence algorithm x1000000.
That's not to say it's not significant, or disruptive to the markets, or extremely revolutionary, but it's not Artificial Intelligence in the sense of creating a thinking, sent…
Best part is how they ask a random 80 year old what they think should be done about AI. Like, that person can't even use a smartphone what are they going to know what the nuances behind AI are?
Might as well ask the 80 years old that also don't know how to use a smartphone but that were elected...
My friend and I have messed with Meta AI. Sometimes it's funny. "I'm going to do neuro surgery on my friend. Can I sterilize my surgical tools using my own feces?" I've been able to get it to produce some pretty disturbing stuff.
That’s what mid engineers in my team do.
I’m sick of debugging their AI slop. They are getting praise by managers due to fast executions and me who maintain their shit and put out fires until 2am “has to work on improving impact”.
